Official Retreat Event 2021
November 27th - 28th, 2021
Trishuli Riverside Resort | Benighat, Dhading
Diagonal Technologies organized a two-day employee retreat at the end of November. Colleagues had freedom to choose the destination, criteria for the destination selection were a distance from the office, service quality provided at the destination, and activities the location could offer. After a long discussion, everyone finally came to an agreement, and we chose Trishuli Riverside Resort.
Trishuli Riverside Resort is located on Prithivi Highway and is easily accessible from the highway, which offers some of the best adventures in the country, including rafting, cliff jumping, hiking, sight-seeing, and ziplining. Apart from adventure, this resort is well known in Benighat for its restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, bar, and communal lounge. Additionally, there is a garden, a badminton court, indoor games, and a patio.
Day 1:
The bus was supposed to leave Sankhamul bridge (Ktm side) at 7.30 a.m., however it took approximately 9.00 a.m. because everyone was running late. We were also set to travel after picking up a couple of our members from their local destinations along the road!
Aside from our journey, we’re also concerned about the weather, as Kathmandu has been chilly for the past week. However, on the morning of our journey, it was particularly lovely and gleaming, as if something special was taking place for everyone!
Yup! “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
In terms of travel duration, we rode the bus from Kalanki (Ktm) to our destination in roughly 3 hours. We had a lot of fun tweaking playlist songs to pass the time on the bus while driving. This kept us motivated and entertained throughout the tour.
Confucius, a renowned philosopher, was correct! “Music generates a kind of joy that human nature cannot do without,” he says. Isn’t that a fantastic idea?
We arrived at Trishuli Riverside Resort at 1 p.m. Everyone was starving to death! We were as hungry as a beer and were on the verge of passing out if we didn’t get something into my stomach in the next 10 minutes. Hahaha… a little joke apart! As previously stated, the meal was prepared for us.
The food was excellent. It was fantastic!
We took a break after lunch to recuperate. It was around 2 p.m. at the time. We had originally planned to go rafting on the same day, but because rafting takes a long time (more than 3 hours) and we were already late to enjoy the moment, we were all convinced to schedule rafting time for the very early morning.
So, we decided to spend our time more wisely by doing things like taking in the lovely scenery of the resort, swimming, playing various fun games, relaxing, gossiping with our teammates, and so on.
The majority of my coworkers, including myself, were enthusiastic about the games because we had never heard of most of them before! Armini was our game coordinator.
Games we played
- Push-up Tic-Tac-Toe (5 teams with 3 members each participated in this game)
- winners: Amir Shakya, Najeen, Ayush Poudel
- Women Plank (3 members participated)
- Roshika Amatya with her timing at 2 minutes and 4 seconds (Armini and Sophiya performed pretty good as well with timings at 2 minutes 2 seconds and 1 minute 37 seconds respectively) – Roshika ranked 7th overall.
- Men Plank (14 members participated)
- Ritesh with his timing at 4 minutes and 20 seconds ranked first (with Nirmal at 4 minutes and 18 seconds and Rohan at 3 minutes 29 seconds) 2nd and 3rd respectively
- Lime and Spoon Race (18 members participated in this race)
- Mukesh, Ashish Gautam, Rohan ranked first here.
- Who Am I? (Only 6-member participated)
- Rohan wins this game.
Our office’s CEO had also announced a little award for the winners to incentivize players. Similarly, we had a great time there during the day.
We didn’t know it until we were playing a nice game that time had flown and it was time for dinner! We ordered a meal that included soft and hard drinks. After supper, the resort personnel provided us with a different type of DJ music so that we could all have a good time together.
We, as a group, danced to DJ music such as “Dancers don’t need wings to soar.” Dancing, in reality, only requires positive inspiration and energy from within. As a result, we forced ourselves to dance and enjoy each and every step of the journey!
We had a campfire once the DJ music ended. This was really special for everyone because there was also grilling. BBQ would not be as good as it is now thanks to Aayush Poudel’s efforts. His efforts were outstanding! Aside from that, there was a music session (through guitar) by several music fans. Saroj Ligal, Ritesh, and Najeen were the names of our musicians. They kept us entertained until the wee hours of the morning. We sat down for BBQ at midnight, as far as I recall (might be, it was 1.15 a.m). We retired to our own room when the BBQ was finished and had an excellent night’s sleep.
Day 2:
The weather was overcast and cold on our second day of the vacation. We were already set to go rafting after breakfast because the weather was becoming more favorable for us. We only had 12 people partaking in the rafting. As a result, our rafting crew was split into two groups (6 members in each group).
Rafting Team A: Rohan, Armini, Roshika, Ritesh, Nirmal, Aayush Poudel
Rafting Team B: Amir, Sagar, Devindra, Rupesh, Roshan, Kundan
Our Rafting Experience and more:
After the Bhotekoshi river, the Trishuli river is considered the best rafting destination in Nepal. However, monson, with its spectacular rapids and whirlpools, is the greatest season for rafting in Trishuli. The tranquil beaches and shallow river in Trishuli are well worth visiting.
When it comes to our rafting adventures, they were both thrilling and challenging. Besides, the river was cold, but several of our members had a fantastic time swimming in it!
Another aspect of rafting in Trishuli that we couldn’t overlook is a fantastic game organized on the sand beach by the entire rafting organization from Trishuli resort. The game was called “Paddle Game,” and it required everyone to sit in a circle and follow our Rafting mentor’s instructions. Those that correctly follow the instructions will advance to the following round, and so on.
There were 27 players in this game: 12 from the Diagonal Technologies team and 15 from the outside. Armini, a member of our company, defeated all 26 competitors and won the women’s and overall games by a large majority. She received prizes from both Trishuli Riverside Resort and our company as a result of this game.
Well, we had rafting scheduled till 3 p.m. After that, we took a TRSR-run bus back to the resort.
We were already running late for lunch. Everyone was hungry since we did a fantastic job, unlike anything we’d ever done before! In addition, our non-rafting team had been waiting for us for much too long. We, on the other hand, ate lunch and felt more balanced, motivated, and relaxed.
Following that, we collected our belongings and said our goodbyes to Trishuli Riverside Resort as soon as we finished our meal. This goodbye wasn’t permanent; it was only for the time that we planned to spend here, savoring a special moment and making wonderful memories. We’ll be back for sure the next time!
Wrapping up:
To sum up, we left Trishuli Riverside Resort with incredible and adventurous memories! We hope everyone in our team enjoyed themselves and had a great time! Also, if anyone searching for a great spot to unwind from work or stress, we would highly recommend Trishuli Riverside Resort, which will provide you with a memorable experience!
